Just as in any endeavor, a few rules are in order to make sure that everyone is playing the same game.

Express General Rules

The Express is not a totally internet or cyber based group.   We have a number of members who are not online and are just as important as those who are.   Success in Express "simulated horse racing" often does not come easily or quickly.   The careful knowledge and study of pedigrees and racing tactics are often needed before one becomes successful.   This can, and has, taken some people years to achieve.   If you are looking for instant gratification, this hobby may not be for you.

Take the advice of many Members before you.   Do not start too big.   Do not quickly take on so many runners that you cannot handle them or become frustrated.   Many newcomers do not realize the amount of work needed to be successful in this hobby.   Start slowly and with a manageable stable.   Lastly, the Express group is full of knowledgeable and helpful people.   If after reading our rules you still do not understand something, please feel free to ask any member, if they cannot help you themselves, they will send you to someone who can.

1)   The Express strives to achieve as much realism with live horse racing as possible and we follow guidelines set up by the Jockey Club, Arabian Jockey Club, United States Trotting Association, American Quarter Horse Association, American Paint Horse Association, and the Appaloosa Horse Club.

2)   You must be a current member of the Express in order to participate in Express activities such as racing, breeding, holding race meets, voting, consigning or buying horses from our Auctions.

3)   The Introductory Booklet contains the procedures and guidelines by which the Express hobby is run.   They go into more detail than these general rules.  It is expected that you will read the booklet and follow its procedures.   If you find something in the booklet that you do not understand, ask.   There are many members who will be happy to answer your questions.

4)  Members who might wish to open an Express racetrack are welcome.  However, you should have at least one full year's membership under your belt before attempting this.  Being a track steward is a big responsibility.  A year will allow you time to become well grounded in the basics of the hobby without adding any additional complications that might overwhelm you.
